A Winning Strategy

Our stated goal is to establish a constitutional democracy in Iraq and Afghanistan and use these as a starting point for spreading democracy throughout the Middle East. We are going about it the wrong way.

The first thing which needs to happen is a formal declaration of war against all terrorist groups and the nations which support them in a material way. If this doesn’t happen it doesn’t matter what else we do. If we don’t do this one thing, I don’t feel we have constitutional authority to do anything else.

We then clear Iraq and Afghanistan in a very forceful way of all private militias and foreign instigators. We exhibit an iron fist in a velvet glove approach. We have meetings with all domestic Iraqi and Afghani factions and tell them what is exactly acceptable and unacceptable behavior and then enforce those standards vigorously.

We then explain to the Iranians and Syrians what is and isn’t acceptable behavior and back it up. If you do this then this action will follow.

We tell our allies this is not a point of negotiation any longer. This is a national security matter and the military option will be used to its conclusion. Get on board or get out of the way.

Our diplomats must understand they implement the President’s policies not make policy. They are unelected civil servants and must understand their role and play it or get out of civil service.

Any leaks of classified information must be fully investigated and prosecuted. No exceptions and no taking into account the politics of who is involved. Everyone is to treated the same under the law; no special treatment.

Let the military have the ball and run with it. Let’s achieve a distinct and decisive military victory.
